Elizabeth Demoret – HSNT Highlight

Health Services of North Texas Highlight: Elizabeth Demoret

Health Services of North Texas is pleased to announce the addition of Elizabeth Demoret, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. With a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and three years of work experience at a nonprofit psychiatric hospital, Elizabeth is someone who deeply understands the struggles of mental health and has the passion to help her patients make positive changes.

“Coming to get treatment is a big step,” Elizabeth says. “And for a lot of people, they don’t think it’ll help but then they come in and they see it’s not so bad. And once you believe you can get better, it’s more likely that you’ll make those steps.”

In September of last year, Elizabeth moved to Denton, Texas in order to work in the Texas mental health system, and even in the short amount of time she’s been here, she is encouraged by the positive changes she sees in her patients, even if it’s only that, this time, they’re smiling when they walk in.

“I like helping people see their strengths and helping them make changes in their lives. It’s something that really means a lot to me.”

One patient can’t say enough about how much her time with Elizabeth has helped her cope with the problems caused by her chronic physical pain.

“I was like ‘ok, I’ll go a couple of times, maybe I just need to vent,’” the patient says. “And then I started getting into it and I realized maybe I don’t just need to vent, maybe I’ve got a lot going on besides, I’ve got work, my kids, I’m just internalizing everything. I keep a lot of it inside, that’s hard for me. I’ve done that my whole life, but I don’t want to do that anymore.”
